Fab 5 Friday (early)

So I'm all excited about Fab 5 Friday and I think of things that I'm thankful for throughout the week. I will be hurriedly trying to get back to Lexington tomorrow and pack for the cruise, so I'm not positive if Ill have time to post. So here goes nothing.

1. Scarf
I don't have a picture of this one, but my Mom made me a scarf while she was off for a thousand days for snow. I LOVE it! It has helped me get through this frigid, frigid weather in Owensboro. I like being able to make requests so the scarf was exactly what I wanted. And it means a lot to me that it was from my Mom:)

2. Royal Caribbean cruises

The anticipation of going on this cruise next week has gotten me through my boring, boring week. I cannot wait to go on this cruise with my four friends. While I have been "working" all week I've been looking at the website and getting so excited about all the opportunities that are on board. It is supposed to be top notch, better than Carnival so I cannot wait!

3. Columbia Lady Ace Jacket

So Adam bought me this jacket back in September. Then I unfortunately lost it at a UK football game in November. I went several months without it but missed it so much that I reordered it in January. It wasn't cheap, but it was well worth the money. I wear it all the time and it has the rain repellent outer material. One of my favorite things. And I used it a ton this week when I didn't feel like wearing my bulky pea coat.

4. Travis

Travis had made my whole last month fantastic. He let me stay on his couch for the whole month while I did a rotation in Owensboro. Before I came down here, I was really nervous. But as soon as I saw him for the first time I knew it was the same old Travis that used to stay at Adam's house all the time while they were in Pharmacy school. We've had a great month and gotten along great. I have been so comfortable here the whole time. So a huge thanks to Travis for being so great!

5. Pure Komachi Stainless Steel Knives

So ever since I've dated Adam I have cooked a lot. I have been finding a lot of good cook books and recipes. When we first started dating I made him cut all the vegetables since he was so good at it...but I've grown up and been a big girl recently. But I was trying to cut vegetables with 99 cent steak knives. So I found these knives at Target. I now have 3 of them. They are stainless steel, and I absolutely love them. They are only like $10 a piece. And I really like making recipes with lots of fresh vegetables that I have to cut. So if you want so kind of nice knives that are in pretty colors...I recommend these.

Stupid Groundhog

Why is it still snowing? I thought this was over with. But I stepped out the front door to go to my meeting this morning, and there was snow on the sidewalk. I just want winter to go far, far away! Luckily, on Sunday, I will be heading to the Caribbean! I fly out of Lexington at 7 AM on Sunday. I cannot wait for a week with 4 of my great friends on a Royal Caribbean cruise. I have only cruised with Carnival, and everyone has told me how much nicer Royal Caribbean is so I'm super exicted. And I think it will be so fun to ice skate on a boat...craziness!
Today I had a great experience at my rotation. I was able to educate many respiratory patients on the use of inhalers. I usually feel worthless all day b/c I don't really do much, but I got to talk to 3 different groups of people about their inhalers and how to use them, clean them, dosages, etc. I even met a cute old man that graduated from UK in the 50's with an engineering degree. He was talking to me about the basketball season. I wanted to take him home with me. The woman over that department told me that I did a great job. It was really good for my self esteem..especially since I will be graduating in two months.

Fab 5 Friday

So I'm stealiing this from Christina..especially since I can't find anything interesting to usually blog about...so I'll give it a try:) So 5 things that made my week more fabulous.

1. DVR
I love DVR. And it is especially great since I am in Owensboro and don't always get to watch "my shows". And it will make two weeks from now more fabulous since I will have plenty of shows to catch up on during my month off from pharmacy.

2. Adam
Adam is the best thing that has ever come into my life. He brings out the best in me. Even though we are different, we compliment each other very well. Who knew that going to buy some pigs with him this morning would be one of the highlights of my weekend. Oh the joys of dating a pharmacist/farm boy:)

3. Mellow Mushroom
I absolutely love this pizza. It is one of my favorite restaurants in Lexington. I could probably eat there every day. Thanks for Adam letting me eat there so often.

4. my iPhone
I am very thankful for my iPhone this month. Since my rotation is kind of worthless it helps keep me occupied. I love being able to keep up on the news with USA today and the Olympics with my ESPN scorecenter. I love my iPhone and especially love the text messaging on the iPhone. Absolutely fantabulous.

5. Lexi Comp
For those non-pharmacy people, lexi comp is a subscription only service for pharmacists and doctors that have almost everything you would ever need to know about a drug. I think the UK College of Pharmacy for providing me access to their account. It has helped me so much with my 4 presentation for this rotation. So Lexi comp has totally made my life so much easier this month!

Valentine's Day

So tomorrow is Valentine's Day. Everyone has been doing the whole Valentine's Day thing on Facebook about how they met their Valentine. I hate doing that b/c I remember a time when I was single and it always made me depressed when people kept talking about the love of their loves..yada yada yada. So I figured I wouldn't force it on anyone in their news feed...but if you read this you are asking for it:)
Adam and I met in September 2007 at a UK/UL football game and started dating in October 2007. We've been dating for almost 2 1/2 years and have supported each other through pharmacy school. Adam graduated in May 2009 and I will be graduating May 2010. I love my Valentine:)

Wednesday, February 10

I'm so proud of myself. I finally exercised today. I have been lazy, lazy, lazy during the winter..just because I hate cold weather. Anyway, I bought a Walk at Home DVD right after Christmas and had never opened it. So after work today, I decided to try it out. It was actually pretty fun and gives you a good exercise. It's programmed to do 12 minute miles so it's brisk. Love it! Hopefully I can lose a few pounds before the cruise in 2 1/2 weeks. I already bought a tankini b/c I don't feel comfortable wearing my real two pieces at the moment. I'm just really, really hard on myself...oh well. I need Adam to be my self esteem coach:)
I only have 2 more work days in the week. I gave my presentation on Promacta today at the pharmacists' meeting. I'm sure it was super exciting. Haha. I'm going to try to work on my presentation for next week tomorrow after I'm done in the cancer center so I can get out of there on Friday. I'm heading to Lexington for the weekend. I'm excited because I miss Adam SO much. This time apart always makes me realize how much I love him and wish I could spend every minute with him. He's so stinking great:)

Week #2

Back to Owensboro for Week #2 of my ambulatory care rotation. I feel a little better now that I've talked to other people that had the rotation and felt worthless as well. I'm all for having easy rotations...I just don't want the preceptor to think I'm lazy. But there is NOTHING for me to do. I guess I'll just work on getting my portfolio ready for graduation. How crazy does that sound? Haha.
I'm getting super stressed out about the future. Adam called me a "worry wart" today. I know I am. I get it from my mother, and I know that. But I am already worried about money. When I graduate I will have to spend $600-1000 on rent (depending on whether I live with someone or rent a 1 bedroom apartment)...and that is a whole different storty in itself. I also will have to get a new car soon. And that is one of my goals of graduation. And then pay student loans. The one thing that is really stressing me out is where to live. I am torn between not having a roommate for the first time since I've moved out of the house. But then I'm afraid I'll be lonely. And if I do live by myself I will have to buy couches, a tv, entertainment center, washer/dryer. Agh. I don't want to grow up. I want to be a student forever.
On a brighter note, 3 weeks from this exact moment I should be on the Independence of the Seas on the way to Belize City. Yay! I need a vacation. And that is also the start of my 4 1/2 weeks off:)

Owensboro

So I'm finally settled in down here in Owensboro. It's fun living with Travis. I'm staying on his couch in his one bedroom apartment, but it's not awkward at all. I thought it might be...but it's still the same ole Travis that used to always be at Adam's house in Lexington. I just feel bad b/c my enormous suitcase is in his living room floor...along with my bathroom bag..because I have so muchh bathroom crap. But oh well:)

The rotation isn't too bad. It's actually not bad at all...but I'm kind of bored. After doing a UK rotation where you are there for sometimes 10-12 hours and constantly doing something, it's weird to just look at a computer and not really do much. I am making myself look over chemotherapy agents...more for my benefit since I am going to be taking the Naplex in about 4 months. Hopefully in 4 months I'll be a licensed pharmacist. Isn't that crazy?

I'm also getting more hopeful with my car. I was a little worried that I wouldn't be able to find a Murano that I could afford. But I am finding some in the middle 20,000's so I'm super excited. I can't wait to get a newer car that I have worked my butt off for. I really want an SUV...so I guess only time will tell what I really will buy.
